Women Who Inspire | Lucy Splichal, Resilient Widow

This October, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Naboso is spotlighting women who embody strength, resilience, and the spirit of community. Today, we are honored to feature Lucy Splichal, Founder and Resilient Widow
A Journey That Changed Everything
In 2021, Lucy’s world shifted in an instant when her husband and business partner, Jesse, was unexpectedly diagnosed with terminal Cancer. For two years, she became his full-time caregiver until his passing in 2024.
“We were just hitting our stride in life when everything changed,” Lucy shares. “His death has reshaped every part of who I am today.”
Rebuilding Life and Business
Lucy met Jesse when she was just 19 years old, and together they built both a partnership and a life. Losing her soulmate was devastating, but it also forced her to rebuild from the ground up—her personal life, her sense of self, and her business.
Her entrepreneurial journey since has been one of resilience, reinvention, and courage.
Finding Joy Through Movement
Amid grief, Lucy has learned to embrace small moments of joy and peace, no matter how fleeting. She finds release in dancing, describing it as therapeutic.
“It’s impossible to feel sad or upset when you’re dancing,” she says—a reminder of how movement can anchor us in even the hardest seasons.
Carrying on a Legacy
When the road feels heavy, Lucy turns to Jesse for inspiration. She honors his memory by carrying forward the dreams and goals they once shared, keeping his legacy alive through her work and her daily life.
Lessons for Women Everywhere
Lucy’s story carries an important reminder: “Nothing in life is guaranteed. Hold your loved ones close and don’t waste a minute on the small stuff.”
Her journey highlights the importance of presence, perspective, and cherishing what matters most.
Creating Impact Beyond Herself
After experiencing firsthand how unexpected events can devastate finances overnight, Lucy pivoted from e-commerce into tax resolution. Through Colossa Tax Group, she now helps individuals and families facing financial hardships get their taxes—and their lives—back on track.
Her work has become more than business—it’s a platform for empowering others through stability, confidence, and support.
Advice for Women Entrepreneurs Facing Adversity
Lucy’s advice for women navigating adversity is rooted in connection: “Find your people—the ones who truly get it.”
For her, building relationships with other young widows and widowers has been the most healing and transformative part of moving forward after loss.
